The Government has indicated that access to TV is an essential service, and has included the following types of worker among the key worker list: Telecommunication Engineers, Field Engineers, and Broadcasters. We are therefore considered as essential workers, and will try to operate as normal as possible to provide a service, albeit with COVID-19 safety procedures in place.

The following text was taken from the government’s coronavirus publication on 26/3/20;

“Work carried out in people’s homes
Work carried out in people’s homes, for example by tradespeople carrying out repairs and maintenance, can continue, provided that the tradesperson is well and has no symptoms. Again, it will be important to ensure that Public Health England guidelines, including maintaining a two-metre distance from any household occupants, are followed to ensure everyone’s safety. No work should be carried out in any household which is isolating or where an individual is being shielded, unless it is to remedy a direct risk to the safety of the household, such as emergency plumbing or repairs, and where the tradesperson is willing to do so. In such cases, Public Health England can provide advice to tradespeople and households. No work should be carried out by a tradesperson who has coronavirus symptoms, however mild.“

We will hopefully be able to repair most faults externally, but if we do need to go inside a home, the engineer will follow the guidelines in our latest Coronavirus policy. This includes our staff wearing gloves and mask, and asking everyone in the home to isolate themselves in a different room while we carry out any work.
